JUST IN: Adwoa Safo Sacked

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has been fired, and a substantive replacement will be announced in the coming days, according to information obtained from the corridors of power by The New Publisher.

Her dismissal’s actual reasons are still unknown.

After her failed attempt to sack Mrs Gertrude Quashigah, the National Coordinator of the School Feeding Program, Adwoa Safo has been absent from the Ministry for several months, and Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, hinted on Tuesday that she may have lost interest in remaining Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection.

Mr. Agyapong stated that Adwoa Safo’s humiliating attempt to fire Mrs. Quashigah was a mistake in and of itself because she failed to research and establish the truth behind certain bogus claims leveled against the highly respected woman.

After her protracted absence from the Ministry and the persistent nature of her attitude, public calls for Adwoa Safo’s resignation or removal grew louder.

When it became clear that Adwoa would not be returning anytime soon, the Presidency had no choice but to appoint Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, as a caretaker for Adwoa Safo’s office while she continues to cool off in America and appears on Tic Toc with a pretty polished face, dancing and singing.

Sarah Adwoa Safo is the Member of Parliament for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, and she has been in the news for the better part of this year due to her absence from Parliament, particularly the explanation her party members and close associates have given for her absence.

Kennedy Agyapong, the Assin Central MP with whom Adwoa Safo has two children, is one of these people.

Kennedy, her college MP from the same party and father of her two children, has indicated in various media appearances that Adwoa Safo has insisted on not returning to Parliament until she has been officially named as the Deputy Majority Leader.

In plain English, Adwoa Safo’s return to Parliament would be possible only if the current Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander AfenyoMarkin, MP for Effutu Constituency, is formally told and compelled to hand over the position to her, as if she were some extraordinary genius or an overly pampered spoilt little kid yelling and rolling on the floor over the loaded gun of a hunter she wants to play with.

“There are excellent men and women who have made the effort to talk to Adwoa; first is the President himself, I’m not sure why he has a soft place for Adwoa Safo,” Kennedy Agyapong says. The Chief of Staff is number two. Honourable Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and I are the third… A chief had traveled to her location solely to persuade her, but she refused to come.”

“Adwoa’s condition is that you remove Afenyo-Markin as Deputy Majority Leader and publicly proclaim Afenyo-removal, Markin’s then she will take a plane and come,” he said. Her second demand is that if she does not get what she wants, she will not vote for the E-Levy, and if the E-Levy fails, the country will be forced to go to the IMF.”

“Adwoa Safo; they rented a private aircraft for her to fly to Ghana, and when she arrived, she refused to appear to Parliament,” Kennedy added. The Chief of Staff had to conduct a motorcade to Adwoa’s house after purchasing tickets and flying in. She stood behind her gates for 30 minutes before opening them, what kind of impoliteness is that? For 35 minutes, the Chief of Staff was forced to sit in her living room. We couldn’t vote since she was sleepy when she arrived. Then, when she returned, she demanded another private airplane. Ahhhh!”

Kennedy claimed that the Chief of Staff had done all in his power to persuade Adwoa Safo to return to Parliament, but the Dome-Kwabenya MP would not cooperate.

He claimed that the Chief of Staff once paid him $120,000, which he deposited in Adwoa Safo’s bank account, but she refused to be appeased.
