You Deserve To Be Lashed – Gabby Otchere-Darko Blasts Contractor Over Slow Pace Of Work

Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and cousin to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has expressed dismay at the apparent lack of commitment exhibited by the contractor responsible for the flyover across the Spintex Road a the Flower Pot Junction in Accra.

Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko took to Facebook to voice his frustration, stating that despite secured funding for the $145 million project initiated by the Ghanaian government along the Tema Motorway, the contractor appeared to be treating the construction as if it were a “part-time charity job.”

“If a road contractor deserves to be lashed, then it is the one building the Flower Pot Junction flyover across Spintex Road. They work as if it is a part-time charity job even though there’s secured funding for the project. Galling!” his Facebook post read.

The Flower Pot overpass, a key component of the multi-million-dollar project aimed at alleviating traffic congestion, has come under scrutiny due to delays and the perceived lackadaisical attitude of the contractor. The frustration expressed by Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko reflects a growing sentiment among the public regarding the sluggish progress of the construction.

Despite the promise of easing traffic congestion upon completion, the ongoing construction has paradoxically led to heavy traffic along the Spintex Road stretch, causing inconvenience to commuters and residents in the area. The delays have raised questions about the efficiency and effectiveness of the project management, given the considerable financial resources allocated to the initiative.

Local residents and businesses have expressed their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs, as the construction not only hampers daily routines but also poses economic challenges to businesses operating in the vicinity.

The government’s $145 million project was initially greeted with optimism as a solution to the persistent traffic issues in the area. However, the delay in the completion of the Flower Pot Junction flyover has cast a shadow over the overall success of the initiative, prompting calls for increased oversight and accountability in the execution of such crucial infrastructure projects. As the public outcry grows, there is mounting pressure on both the government and the contractor to address the concerns and expedite the completion of the Flower Pot overpass.
