The MP for Asante Bekwai and first deputy speaker of parliament, Joe Osei Owusu has explained why the controversial e-transactions levy has not yet been resubmitted to the house for consideration and passage.

In an interview with Accra-based Asaase Radio, Mr. Osei Owusu stated that government is not yet ready to resubmit the controversial bill.

According to him, the ongoing stakeholder consultations are one of the reasons why the bill is not yet resubmitted to the house.

The honorable member explained that government has taken note that many have expressed apprehensions about the bill and so time needs to be taken to address those concerns before the bill is laid once again before the house.

Mr. Osei Owusu indicated that the Business Committee is working to shedule the debate for the second week of February.
