Offinsohene To Be Buried On February 24; Funerals Banned In Offinso

Nana Wiafe Akenten III, the late Paramount Chief of Offinso is to be buried on February 24, 2022, the Offinso Traditional Council has announced.

The Council, in consonance with Asante customs and traditions has also imposed a ban on funerals, as well as drumming and noisemaking in the area until the late Chief is buried.

Per arrangements announced by the Council, the remains of the Late Chief will be laid in state at his Palace from midnight of Tuesday February 22 to the forenoon on Thursday February 24.

It is expected that Chiefs, government officials and members of the general public will be allowed to pay their last respects to the departed chief within the 3-day event.

The Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, according to tradition, will be the last to pay his last respects, before interment commences.

The deceased Chief passed on at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in October last year after a brief illness.
