Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong was nowhere to be found and served to appear before Parliament’s privileges committee over a case involving him.
Kennedy Agyapong was referred to the committee by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin after he was reported by the Multimedia Group of threats against its journalist.
The other key complainant in the case, Alhassan Suhuyini, who’s the Tamale North MP, will be the first witness to appear before the committee.
Mr Agyapong had called for the journalist to be beaten on live TV after a reportage on the Ejura disturbance.
After a virtual meeting of the Privileges Committee on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, it was agreed that the sitting will be held at 5pm on August 5.
However, the hearing was cancelled as the Assin Central lawmaker is said to have left the country.
Reacting to it, Mr Suhuyini labelled Ken Agyapong a coward who only exhibits bravery in his comfort zone at Madina but evaded cross-examination.
“I think it amounts to an act of cowardice, we have all known about this case for some time now, and looking at the bravery he shows, one would have thought that he will be eager to make himself available for the committee to serve him and for this matter to be dealt with and decided upon by the committee…so I find it quite disappointing that his bravery is only exhibited around that comfort zone around Madina.”
