Kennedy Agyapong’s Campaign Team Refutes Opare Ansah’s Allegations; Calls Them Baseless

Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team, representing the controversial presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has vehemently denied allegations made by former Suhum MP, Frederick Opare Ansah. These allegations were made against Agyapong and were labeled as baseless by his campaign team.

Background of Allegations:

The former MP for Suhum, Frederick Opare-Ansah, claimed in a radio interview that Kennedy Agyapong demanded $500 million worth of contracts annually from Vice President Bawumia before stepping down from the presidential race. Opare-Ansah asserted that Agyapong approached the Vice President with this demand, apparently in an attempt to dissuade Bawumia from contesting the presidency. However, Bawumia refused this demand, leading to Agyapong’s decision to enter the presidential race.

Response from Agyapong’s Campaign Team:

Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team characterized the allegations made by Opare-Ansah as false claims, rooted in the former MP’s dissatisfaction after Agyapong declined his request to serve as Campaign Manager. The team referred to Opare-Ansah as an “opportunist” and provided clarifications on several key points raised by him.

  1. Demand for GH¢500 Million Contract: The team challenged Vice President Bawumia, on whose behalf they claimed Opare-Ansah spoke, to provide concrete evidence for any such discussion. They emphasized that there was no basis for these claims.
  2. Kennedy Agyapong’s Amnesty Program Participation: The team defended Agyapong’s involvement in the U.S. government’s amnesty program, asserting that his actions were legal and intended to assist individuals through legitimate means. They pointed out that the program had given rise to the Green Card Lottery, attracting talent to America, and stated that it was not a racketeering endeavor.
  3. SuperCare’s Success: The team highlighted SuperCare’s success, a venture led by Agyapong and Oppong-Bio, underscoring Agyapong’s dedication to entrepreneurship. They also emphasized the financial contributions made by Agyapong during the NPP’s victory in the 2000 elections.

In conclusion, Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team strongly refuted the allegations against their candidate and challenged the evidence for these claims. They highlighted Agyapong’s commitment to entrepreneurship and his contributions to the NPP, contrasting it with Opare-Ansah’s diminishing support within the party. The statement concluded by expressing appreciation for all supporters’ commitment, especially Agyapong’s dedication to progress and substantial contributions to the NPP.
