Kwahuman Outdoors New Paramount Chief In Colorful Celebration

Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, known in private life as Baffour Akoto Osei, is a royal from the Etena Clan of Nkwatia. A Chartered Civil Engineer and Real Estate Developer with extensive experience in the shipping industry, he is an alumnus of St. Peter’s Senior High School and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He was installed as the Paramount Chief of Kwahu in January 2025 and has since been formally introduced to the public through this grand outdooring ceremony.

The chiefs and people of Kwahu in the Eastern Region celebrated the outdooring of their newly installed paramount chief, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, in a vibrant and colorful ceremony held on Saturday at the Abene Palace in Nkwatia. The event brought together a diverse gathering of dignitaries, including traditional leaders, religious groups, businessmen, family members, and friends, all of whom came to honor the Okwahumanhene.

The ceremony was marked by a display of rich cultural traditions, with chiefs adorned in their regalia and linguists leading processions to pay homage to Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III. Attendees presented various gifts, including cash donations, to celebrate the occasion and show their support for the new paramount chief.

Among the notable chiefs and queen mothers present were Okyeamfo Asiedu Agyemang III, Abetifihene and Adontenhene of Kwahu; Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III, Kwahuhemaa; Nana Asantewaa Krobea II, Kwahu Beseasehemaa; Nana Bonsu Ayirepe Ababio, Kwahu Kyedomhene and Chief of Pepease; and Nana Owusu Kyere III, Kwahu Beseasehene. Other dignitaries included Nana Tenkorang Adarkwa III, Kwahu Prasohene; Nana Effah Opinamang III, Bomenghene; Nana Ama Awuah II, Abetifihemaa and Kwahu Adontenhemaa; and Nana Afriyie Ofosua Kubour, Obohemaa. A delegation from the office of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, led by Osaberima Ansah Sasraku, Chief of Mamfe and Kyedomhene for Akuapem, also graced the occasion.

During the event, traditional leaders and groups showcased the unique culture of Okwahuman through songs, appellations, and solidarity messages, underscoring the authority and significance of the new paramount chief. In his address, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III expressed gratitude to the kingmakers for his successful installation and outdooring. He outlined his vision for the Kwahu Traditional Area, emphasizing his commitment to promoting agriculture, education, and youth employment.

To boost food production and create job opportunities, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III revealed that he had acquired 120 acres of land for commercial farming, with plans to collaborate with Members of Parliament (MPs) in the area to secure farm machinery. He also pledged to prioritize education by providing necessary support to students in the region.

Additionally, the paramount chief appealed to stakeholders both in Ghana and abroad to support Okwahu United Sporting Club, currently competing in the Division One League, with the goal of helping the team return to the Premier League. Coinciding with his birthday, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III used the occasion to host a fundraising and dinner event to raise funds for the club.

The outdooring ceremony not only celebrated the ascension of Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III but also highlighted his ambitious plans to drive development and improve the livelihoods of the people of Kwahu. His reign as Omanhene is expected to bring renewed focus on agriculture, education, and sports, fostering growth and prosperity in the Kwahu Traditional Area.
