The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly, George Cyril Bray has urged Ghanaians to partake in government’s tree planting exercise.

Addressing the media during the Green Ghana Day Celebration on Friday June 10, he bemoaned how rain patterns have changed over the years.

According to him, because most trees have been cut down, it has become difficult to predict when exactly the rainy season begins and the only way to address this issue is to plant more trees.

Apart from the Ablekuma West assembly, Hon Cyril Bray said the St Martin De Porres and the Star of the Sea School have been made centres where people can pick up some of the seedlings to plant in their homes for free.

Mr George Osei, District Forest Manager, Amasaman Forest District, who graced the event, said out of the 2.5 million plants expected to be planted in Greater Accra, the Amasaman forest district have raised 860,000 seedlings and have distributed them to various organisations where people can go and take and plant in their communities.
