Ghana To Engage In Second Phase Of Fumigation In Fight Against COVID-19 On July 19

As part of measures to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, the country is yet to organize a second phase of its fumigation exercise on Sunday July, 19, 2020.

The fumigation exercise is to tackle areas such as markets, bus stop seats, shops fronts, and other human activities areas in Accra.

A statement from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development said, the exercise will take two weeks as it starts from July 19 and ends on August 1, 2020.

Also, the fumigation will be extended to all the city’s main roads and shopping centers.

A statement signed by the sector Minister, Hajia Alima Mahama says, “The second phase of the disinfection, fumigation and cleaning of markets, lorry parks, public toilets and public spaces would come off throughout the 16 regions across the country. The exercise which would last for two weeks starts from Sunday, July 19, to Saturday, August 1, 2020.”

All Regional Coordinating Councils in their various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies(MMDAs) are instructed to note the above directive.

As at July 18, Ghana has recorded 27,060 COVID-19 cases with 3,871 being active cases and 145 deaths.

This is therefore an initiative to stop the spread and infection of the virus.
