WAEC Called To Review Its WASSCE Timetable- Africa Education Watch

Africa Education Watch, an education think tank, has called on the West African  Examination Council (WAEC) to review its timetable for the this years West African Senior Schools Certificate Examinations(WASSCE).

The timetable which has two elective subjects, thus Financial Accounting and Principles of Cost Accounting are to be written on the same day which is September 5, 2020 with just an hour break .

However, Africa Education Watch has called on the Exams Council to revise the arrangement as it would be hectic for two elective subjects to be written on the same day by the students.

The think tank  contended that, with two elective subjects being written on the same day for about 6 to 7 hours and just a break would be demanding and also it goes against the international standard of assessment at the secondary level.

It alleges that the Ghana Association of Business Schools attempt to correct the oddity proved futile.

“We may not be in normal times, but this certainly should not justify the imposition of such strenuous examination timetables, which are not in the best interest of the students to be examined. We are, therefore, calling on WAEC to review the timetable by postponing the said paper to either Sunday 6th or Monday 7th September 2020,” a statement from Africa Education Watch  proposed.
