For Transparency Sake, Jean Mensah Should Be Cross-Examined – Vim Lady
Electoral Commission chair, Madam Jean Mensah has been advised to mount the witness box and be cross examined in order to allay all doubts associated with the electoral process during the 2020 polls.
In a Facebook post, media personality, Afia Pokuaa, aka, Vim Lady said “For the sake of TRANSPARENCY and building TRUST in the ELECTORAL PROCESS, I think E.C should go into the box and allay all doubts about this process. My 2ghc opinion though.”
This comes after lawyers for the 1st respondent in the ongoing election petition refused to allow EC Chair, Jean Mensah mount the witness box to be cross-examined.
Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata argued that the EC chairperson showed readiness for cross-examination when she filed a witness statement and supporting affidavits in response to the petitioner.
However, the first respondent also argues that the rules of the court, specifically Order 38 (4)(4) of the High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, C.I. 47 allowed the EC, which is the first respondent in the petition, not to adduce evidence.
