After a protracted three-year legal battle, an Accra court has issued a groundbreaking ruling in the highly publicized custody dispute between Gifty Gyan and former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan. The court’s verdict encompasses critical decisions concerning child custody, financial support, and asset distribution.
Child Custody and Financial Support
The Accra court has declared that the three children of Gifty Gyan rightfully belong to Asamoah Gyan. As part of the judgment, Asamoah Gyan has been ordered to provide Gifty Gyan with a monthly sum of 25,000 Ghana cedis to support the upbringing of their children. This financial assistance covers the children’s general upkeep but excludes expenses related to their school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets, and other childcare costs.
Asset Distribution and Compensation
In a significant move, the court has awarded Asamoah Gyan’s mansion located in the United Kingdom to Gifty Gyan as compensation. In addition to the UK mansion, Gifty Gyan has been granted a four-bedroom house in the Spintex area.
Furthermore, the court has ruled that a BMW vehicle owned by Asamoah Gyan, along with an Infiniti, must be handed over to Gifty Gyan.
Finally, Asamoah Gyan’s land, originally intended for a filling station, has been assigned to Gifty Gyan as part of the asset distribution in the ruling.
The court’s verdict is expected to have a significant impact on the ongoing dispute between the two parties, as it addresses the key aspects of child custody, financial responsibility, and asset distribution.
This landmark decision marks the end of a prolonged legal battle and paves the way for both Gifty Gyan and Asamoah Gyan to move forward with their lives, with clear directives on the future upbringing of their children and the allocation of assets.
