Professor Ransford Gyampo, a prominent academic and public servant, has responded to public inquiries regarding his assets and lifestyle, emphasizing that his primary focus is on serving Ghana and supporting the less fortunate rather than amassing personal wealth.
During a recent appearance on TV3’s KeyPoints, Gyampo, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority, shared insights into his modest approach to material possessions. Upon assuming his role, he revealed that the official vehicle provided to him was significantly less valuable than the car he owned.
“The car I drove to the office on my first day was far superior to the one they offered me. Some people were even surprised,” he remarked.
Gyampo stressed that his priorities lie in contributing to national development and aiding vulnerable communities. “By the grace of God, I have no intention of acquiring more than I need. My goal is to serve Ghana and help the poor and needy,” he stated.
In a candid disclosure, Gyampo mentioned that he owns a large residence in his hometown but rarely has the opportunity to utilize or inspect the property fully. “I built a sizable mansion in my hometown. I occasionally stay there, but I don’t even have the time to check if the other rooms are leaking or not. So, what else could I possibly want?” he quipped.
To address any speculation about his financial standing before taking up his current role, Gyampo expressed his willingness to publicly declare his assets. “I want my assets to be published to demonstrate that I had already established my life before assuming this position,” he asserted.
Gyampo’s remarks underscore his commitment to transparency and his dedication to public service over personal enrichment.
