The Right Honorable Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin is expected to jet out of the country today for the United Arab Emirates.
The Speaker is expected to undergo medical review in Dubai and will be away until the second week of December.
Mr. Bagbin’s travel comes at a time when government business is in limbo following Parliament’s rejection of the 2022 budget last night.
Parliament will get even more interesting from Tuesday when the majority caucus is expected to seek to overturn the rejection of the budget.
The majority caucus insists that the rejection of the budget is unconstitutional and an affront to parliamentary procedure.
With the Speaker out of the country, it means whoever takes his seat will come from the majority caucus, thereby rendering that side short of one vote since the occupant of the Speaker’s seat cannot vote.
Brace yourselves Ghanaians, for the drama you are about to witness on Tuesday might surpass that of the dawn of 7th January.
