Social Democrat Like Mahama Condemning “Freebies”? — Otchere Darko Wonders

Stalwart of the New Patriotic Party and owner of Accra based FM Asaase Radio, Gabby Otchere Darko has wondered why a social democratic party comfortably criticising ‘freebies’ in this challenging times of Covid-19.

According to Gabby, it is problematic to hear the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) criticise the Nana Addo led government on that tangent.

His tweet reads;

“@JDMahama .@NAkufoAddo when a presidential candidate of a so-called social democratic party is comfortable criticising the president for providing “freebies” of water and electricity to citizens in these difficult times of the covid-19 pandemic then you know there is a problem,”.

His comment comes on the back of the former President and leader John Dramani Mahama’s claims that the government needs to empower the Ghanaian rather than provide them with freebies.

“If you say everybody should stay at home and we will give you everything free, free; free this, free that, all the countries that have developed, they didn’t develop like that,” John Dramani Mahama said when he interacted with a group of Contractors.
