Remove Taxes On Sanitary Pads Now – Deputy NYA CEO to Gov’t

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Madam Akosua Manu has called on government to abolish taxes on sanitary pads to make them cheaper.

Speaking exclusively to Peace News, she said although she is a member of the current government she’s not afraid to state that some taxes on sanitary pads have brought an astronomical increase in its prices. To her the free shs will be meaningless if girls miss school because of their period.

She said many young girls are struggling to afford the required number of pads (about 4-5 a day) whenever they’re in their menstrual cycles, forcing them to resort to unhygienic means.

Akosua Manu made this known after she and her Onewhole Future Foundation made donations of sanitary pads to the Amrahia ADMA JHS, Ashiyie Model School and the Mercy Islamic Primary School respectively.
