Claims have surfaced from Good Evening Ghana, suggesting that the Police Administration held meetings with certain journalists and provided financial incentives to promote the content of a leaked tape, thereby amplifying its reach.

Paul Adom Otchere, the host of Good Evening Ghana, asserts that he possesses evidence indicating that money was given to the journalists during a meeting at the police headquarters. The alleged payment was made by the Director of Finance of the Police, with the purpose of influencing the journalists to publish content related to the leak tape.

On July 11, a leaked tape emerged, allegedly involving a prominent police commissioner and certain leaders of the governing New Patriotic Party, discussing a plot to remove the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

However, Paul Adom Otchere claims to have obtained a list of journalists who were reportedly approached by the police before the tape was made public. He alleges that these journalists were paid with the intention of promoting the leaked tape’s content.

Mr. Adom Otchere claimed that he possesses a list containing the names of journalists along with the specific amounts each of them was allegedly paid. He stated his intention to bring this information to the attention of the Ghana Journalists Association.

Furthermore, Mr. Adom Otchere accused the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of contributing to tension within the police service due to his divisive leadership, particularly in establishing an elite force.

He shared a personal experience involving the police commander of the Airport after an arrest, highlighting potential issues within the police service.

Additionally, Mr. Adom Otchere referenced incidents in which the elite forces allegedly loyal to Dampare were involved in extra-judicial killings of Tamale civilians in November 2022. These incidents have reportedly led to a Habeas Corpus court order in Tamale.

Lastly, Mr. Adom Otchere emphasized his determination to ensure that Dampare complies with the law and follows up on these matters.
