Otumfuor Destools 96-Year Old Chief Of Antoa For Multiple Sale Of lands, Other Offences

The Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II has destooled the Chief of Antoa, Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman for various offences, including alleged multiple sale of lands.

On Monday, May 29, 2023, following his journey to the United Kingdom (UK) to attend the coronation of King Charles III, Otumfuo, who serves as the President of the Kumasi Traditional Council, pronounced the verdict during his inaugural sitting after his return.

The chief is also said to have disregarded the established and widely accepted protocols in appointing his nephew as his successor.

Despite being approached by his relatives and respected elders to seek Otumfuo’s approval, he allegedly chose to disregard their counsel. Following the hearing on Monday evening, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II rendered a verdict against him, decreeing his removal from office.

Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman has occupied the Antoa stool for the past 23 years.
