Published

Private legal practitioner, Frederick Asamoah has said a man can serve a 6-months jail time for marrying two women under the ordinance marriage system.

According to him ordinance marriage only recognises one man, one wife, however, custom marriage permits a man to marry two or more.

He made this known while speaking to host of “My Lawyer My Counselor”show Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman.

“It’s man and woman, the law talks about him or her, so a woman if you are married under ordinance you can’t marry another. It’s against the law to marry more if it’s under ordinance but if it’s customary marriage you can marry more”
