Man Jailed 18-Years For Impregnating His Girlfriend’s Sister

The Koforidua Circuit Court “B” presided by His Honour Kwame Polley has jailed a 27-year-old man, Felix Mensah for defiling and impregnating the 13-year-old junior sister of his cohabitating girlfriend whom he has four children with.

The Prosecutor Chief Inspector Benard Annor told the court that, the complainant Juliet, 27, was the fiancee of the convict whom they were cohabitating in a single room at Jumapo, a suburb of New Juaben North Municipality in the Eastern region.

The Prosecutor said, on December 8, 2020, the victim who is a basic school pupil visited the sister to spend the vacation with her.

On the night of her arrival, the convict jumped on her and had sexual intercourse with her in the same room while the fiancée was deeply asleep.

According to the victim, she felt that someone was having Sexual intercourse with her whilst asleep hence suddenly woke up but the accused quickly covered the mouth with his hand and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to her sister.

The convict repeated the act a few days apart.

Out of fear, the victim did not disclose her ordeal until she missed her menses which upon interrogation confided in her biological mother the sexual ordeal.

The victim tested positive during a pregnancy test at the hospital.

The mother of the victim confronted the convict with the allegation which he admitted the offense.

The family of the convict and the victim met to amicably resolve the matter and fined the convict to compensate the victim and perform some traditional rites to cleanse the family.

Out of Shame, the fiancée walked out of the relationship while the convict bolted to Accra.

The victim was taken care of by the mother whom she successfully delivered on August 10, 2021.

The ex-fiancée of the convict later reported a case of defilement to the Domestic Violence and Victims Supports Unit (DOVVSU) which led to the arrest of the convict on October 25, 2021. He admitted the offense in his caution statement hence charged with the offense.

The convict pleaded guilty. He shockingly told the Judge that he enjoyed the act but will not do that again.
