Ken Ofori Atta’s Appointment Throws NDC Into More Chaos As Adongo Clashes With Haruna, Muntaka

The NDC was projected to be more united than ever, especially as the Party overcame all odds and pulled a massive surprise on the NPP by getting their preferred candidate elected as Speaker of Parliament on 7th January 2021.

The subsequent Victory Party that followed and the fact that the NPP kept embarassing themselves in Parliament, presented the NDC as a Party, more united in their purpose, despite their defeat in the 2020 polls.

However, just 3 months after this wonderful achievement, the NDC appears to have lost direction, and all the successes the Party chalked at the beginning of the year, appear to be going down the drain.

The unanimous dismissal of the Party’s Election Petition, followed immediately by the Passing of some three Ministerial appointees by Parliament, after those three had been rejected at the committee level appeared to have been a fatal blow to the unity of the NDC.

Subsequent open attacks by National Communications Officer of the Party, Sammy Gyamfi, former MP for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak and other Party Stalwarts have further driven a wedge between the leadership of the minority caucus and the Party’s support base.

The latest to criticize the leadership of the minority caucus is MP for Bolga Central, Isaac Adongo, who has lashed out at his leadership for approving the nomination of Ken Ofori Atta as Minister for Finance.

According to Mr Adongo, he cannot wrap his head around the fact that the leadership of the minority caucus agreed to approve Mr Ofori Atta as finance minister despite the havoc he has caused the country.

Adongo’s comments come at a time when the leaders of the minority caucus have lost every trust and sympathy from their Party’s grassroots.

It appears factual that Ofori Atta’s appointment has done more harm than good to the NDC, who are expected to overhaul their parliamentary leadership in the coming days.

It looks most certain that Haruna Iddrisu and Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka may take majority of the fall for what is most certainly a collective failure by the entire Party.
