I Don’t Like Oppong Nkrumah; If I See Him I’ll Pass – A Plus Opens Up On Strained Relationship

Published

on

Musician and political activist, Kwame A-Plus has opened up on his strained relationship with Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

According to A Plus, he used to be good friends with the Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi however, that is no more the case as the MP has now joined the group of lying politicians.

Speaking on Kofi TV he said, “Kojo Oppong Nkrumah used to be my friend; now, I don’t like him. I won’t lie and say we’re in a good relationship. I don’t like him. If I see him, I’ll pass; but if he greets me, I’ll respond. We must accord people respect.”

He explained that Mr Oppong Nkrumah labelled him a bitter person after criticising the Akufo Addo government’s fight against corruption.

“In 2016, I dedicated my time and risked my life for him [Oppong Nkrumah]. I went to Ofoase Ayirebi to help him win the parliamentary elections. I did it for free, I just wanted to help him to win.

“So when you win and go for a radio interview on corruption and I’m mentioned that I have criticized the government about its way of fighting corruption and you create an impression that ‘A Plus is not a serious guy, he has fallen out with the government so no one should take him serious’, I’ll come at you,” he said.

A Plus continued; “I’m not your co-equal. You are a government appointee, I run my own business. I’m not an appointee. The government tasked me but revoked it after three months thinking I’ll die as a result. I have survived it. Out of my free will, I supported your campaign and it meant I meant well for you. So if you become a minister and think you have power, don’t think you can use that power to disrespect people who genuinely supported you.”

Duker And Bissue Are Humans; Their Brawl Was Nothing Serious – Obiri Boahen

Published

on

Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen has admonished the media for blowing the Charles Bissue – Mireku Duker brawl out of proportion.

Speaking on Accra FM’s Ghana Yensom Morning Show, he noted that both of them are not angels and the media must quit sensationalising the incident.

“What they did was inappropriate but do we raise it to this level? Charles Bissue is an NPP member, Duker is also a leader in NPP; they are not angels. They couldn’t control their emotions,” he said.

“One threw a blow, It’s not right that’s not the way to go but what do we do?” Obiri Boahen quizzed.

According to him, the brawl “happened in the full glare of some leaders of the party Mr Lord Commey was there, Mr Peter Mac Manu was there.”

“And you think it’s so serious, so alarming that the whole world should hear of it and NPP should come and defend it?” he asked.

“What at all is it? What happened is not right but the level at which we are sensationalising it is too much,” he stated.

NDC Grievances Still Not Addressed After IPAC Meeting

Published

on

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have expressed dissatisfaction over failure of the Electoral Commission to address their concerns at today’s Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting.

Speaking to the Press after the meeting, representative of the NDC, Osei Kwame Griffiths noted that the meeting could have been more successful if the EC had been receptive of their concerns.

“I think it was a meeting that was called perhaps after we had raised certain issues within the public domain that even prior to some of the things that are happening, IPAC was not briefed,” he said.

“So, they quickly had to put this together but it still did not answer the very common-sensical questions that we had. So, in my view, the meeting could have achieved much more had they been more receptive to some of the questions that we raised,” he added.

The New Patriotic Party on the other hand expressed satisfactory with the assurances given by the EC concern anomalies with the voters’ register.

“That is the reason why we have the exhibition of the provisional register to correct any anomalies that might have erupted during the generation of the data,” said the party’s Campaign Manager, Peter Mac Manu, who represented the NPP at the meeting.
