E-levy Is A Ponzi Scheme We Must Oppose As A People – Sam George

Lawmaker for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George has described government’s proposed E-levy as a Ponzi scheme which must be opposed at all cost.

In a Facebook post reacting to a sit down strike by commercial drivers yesterday, he questioned the relevance of the fuel price stabilisation levy Ghanaians have been paying.

“And they are planning to loot $40 million in a so-called e-levy service charge. Whatever happened to the fuel price stabilization levy we have been paying?”

“We may joke and say e-walking, but that tax is a ponzi scheme we MUST oppose as a people,” Sam George wrote.

Many Ghanaians were stranded on Monday morning following the sit-down strike by the commercial drivers.

Scores of Ghanaians were seen walking to work or either returning home because there were no vehicles to commute them to their various destinations.

The strike was however, suspended in the course of the day as the GPRTU noted that a meeting has been scheduled with President Akufo-Addo to find solution to reducing fuel price, a reason they embarked on the strike.
