Melaku Alebel of Ethiopia came second in the trade and investment category.

The magazine also unveiled winners in the 17 categories of the African Business Leadership Awards 2020.

The winners emerged through a 3-step points-based selection process that included a call for nomination; a call for online voting for shortlisted nominees; and the editorial board’s final review of the nominations and voting submissions – using supporting evidence and voting considerations in their final decisions to decide the African Business Leadership Awards 2020 winners.

The online voting was responsible for 65 percentage points and supporting evidence responsible for 35% in the final selection process for the 2020 winners.

The winners were unveiled by the Publisher of the Magazine, Dr Ken Giami, at the UK Head Office of the group after the editorial board reviewed the collated online and offline votes.

Also considered were submissions from the Magazine’s over 1 million subscribers and online followers.

As Trade Minister and President’s Special Initiatives (PSI) with additional responsibility for Private Sector Development from 2003 to 2007 during the erstwhile Kufuor’s administration, he led the design, development and implementation of innovative programmes and special initiatives which created new strategic pillars of growth for the Ghanaian economy.

Alan Kyerematen played a key role in shaping Africa’s Trade Policy agenda in the WTO Multilateral Negotiations and the EU-ACP Economic Partnership Agreement Negotiations. He was one of the lead negotiators for Africa in the WTO Ministerial Conference in Cancun in 2003.

Additionally, Alan Kyerematen was one of the leading members of the technical team that provided strategic guidance and support to the African Union Commission in developing and elaborating an Action Plan for Boosting intra-African Trade and preparing a framework for the establishment of a Continental Free Trade Area.

As part of this effort, he was designated as a Special Envoy of the African Union to hold consultations with selected African Heads of State prior to the 18th African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government in January 2012.

In his current position as Trade and Industry Minister in Akufo-Addo-led administration, Alan Kyerematen has helped to establish the Business Regulatory Reform, the establishment of an Automotive Development Policy which has attracted the world’s giants in the auto industry with VW being first to have successfully assembled and unveiled its first vehicle and successful implementation of the 1D1F which is one key manifesto promise of the ruling party.

The National Petroleum Authority Ghana was also named the winner of the African Regulator of the Year Category.

Revealed: Murdered MP Begged Robbers To Follow Him Home For Money – Police

Published

on

Late Mfantseman MP Ekow Kwansa-Hayford pleaded with armed robbers who attacked him to follow him to his house to receive monies they were demanding, the Police has disclosed.

Police prosecutors who arraigned the arrested suspects before court told the court that the robbers demanded money from the MP who then pleaded that he had run out of cash because he was just returning from a campaign trip therefore they should follow him home.

However, the plea did not convince the robbers as they shot him instantly.

Narrating the incidence to the court, Chief Inspector Seth Frimpong said Police had intel that robbers had mounted barriers at Abeadze—Dominase Mankesim road and were robbing unsuspecting travellers.

Rushing to the scene, they found some persons shot, with Ekow Hayford later identified as an MP for Mfantseman Constituency.

Detailing how he got shot, the police noted that the Mitsubushi truck the MP and his company drove was shot, forcing it to grind to a halt after running into a ditch.

The robbers then surrounded the vehicle and demanded money while asking which of them was the MP. Ekow Hayford then identified himself as the MP.

“So they pounced on him and collected his Samsung galaxy 850 mobile phone and demanded money. The late MP told the robbers that he had used up all his money as he was returning from campaign tour. He, therefore, pleaded with them to take him to his house to give them money but they refused and shot him, killing him instantly,” Chief Insp. Frimpong told the court.

I Always Thought That Old Man Will Be Different – Manasseh Azure Shades Disappointing Buhari And Akufo-Addo

Published

on

Renowned Investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has in a usual coded message, addressed his disappointment in an unnamed ‘old man’, who failed to be different as was touted.

Manasseh Azure Awuni, who is known for his usually thought-provoking writings laced with proverbs and insinuations, this time appear to have delivered a write-up addressed to two people.

Even though the former Joy FM journalist failed to mention any names, many readers and fans who commented under his social media posts are already pointing fingers at Presidents; Akufo-Addo and Muhamadu Buhari.

In a Facebook post, he wrote, “

I used to think that old man would be different. They said he hated corruption and would end it. I thought, with his age, he would think about leaving a legacy instead of just adding up to the number of failed rulers of the continent. They said he would not tolerate nonsense. Now, it’s clear the promoters of those character traits were lying, or they too did not know him well. We now know him for who he is. #ENDSARSNOW
