‘Akyem Sakawa’ Saga: Group Calls Akuffo-Addo To Explain His Bitterness Against Northerners

A group in the Northern part of Ghana has criticised president Akuffo-Addo for a reference made by roping in Northerners and Gonjas in reply to Mahama’s ‘Akyem Sakawa boys’ comment during a meeting with the Catholic Bishop’s Conference last Friday at the Jubilee House.

According to the group, they disagree with the president’s comment and call on him to explain his bitterness against Northerners or Gonjas.

Below are details of the statement by the group

We have become aware of dangerous ethnocentric comments made by President Akufo -Addo during a meeting with the Catholic Bishop’s Conference last Friday at the Jubilee House. For the avoidance of doubt, we quote the comment below for reference:

“If I was to get up to make a comment about Northerners or Gonjas, you can imagine the uproar that will be in this country.”

As much as we acknowledge the context in which the President tried to situate his comment, we suspect his generalization to encompass all Northerners has underpinning sentiments. It is in this respect we disagree with the President and call on him to explain his bitterness against Northerners or Gonjas.

We are at pains to understand why ‘our father’ will let out such thoughts as if he is squabbling with us. We want to know what President Akufo Addo has against Northerners that if he says it it will cause an uproar. We just want to know whatever negative it is, we assure the public that we will not call for an uproar. One lesson we learned from a past President, our own Prof. Atta Mills, is that when one is elected President, he becomes a father for all; not for a few or his tribe alone. It is perhaps on this notion that the Presidential oath that the President swore upon taking office entails a pledge to dedicate himself to the service and well-being of the people of the Republic of Ghana and to do right to all manner of persons. With the visible anger of the President towards Northerners, it is not very likely he will uphold this pledge.

Again we are wondering if it is the same President who few days ago admonished the entire populace to shun politicians who promote tribal politics. There are many other tribes in Ghana but the choice of the Northerners which comprise many tribes is intriguing. We feel it is a subtle attack on the Northern part of the country by a southern president who feels aligned to the south more than the North. This is a clear division of the unitary state entrusted in the hands of the President. This attitude lends credence to the perception of tribal politics by the very person who admonishes against it. It is nothing but hypocrisy at best.

We therefore strongly condemn the President’s insinuations and urge him to render an unqualified apology to Northerners at large. Democracy does not mean only a few are liked and recognized in plural societies!

Thank you.

Muslim Women ‘Attack’ Samira Bawumia Over What They Call “Her Inappropriate Dressing”

A group of Muslim women known as Hijabbis have expressed their displeasure with the mode of dressing of the second lady, Mrs Samira Bawumia.

According to the group, the second lady, by virtue of her position, is supposed to be a role model of young Islamic ladies, however, her mode of dressing does the direct opposite.

Speaking at a press conference, the leader of the group, Hajia Mariam Abubakar explained that out of more than 6, 000 verses in the Quran, about half a dozen refer specifically to the way a woman should dress or walk in the public.

According to Hajia Abubakar, the clearest verse on the requirement of modest dress is Surah 24:31, telling women to guard their private parts and draw their Khimar over their bosom.

“As Muslims, the rule of dress for women is modest; the word HIJAB means “ Cover” and refers to a specific form of veil worn by some Muslim women”. She said.

“H.E Hajia Samira Bawumia who is supposed to be a role model to our Muslim youth have decided to dress like a model and a fashion Icon exposing her feminine attractions to men which have influenced their Muslim girls and women to do same. She added”.

The group also expressed disappointment in the second lady and her husband for what they term as failing to uphold the principles of Islam, even though this was what informed the decision of the Islam constituency to vote for the NPP in 2016.

Flashback 2017: How Islamic Cleric Predicted That Donald Trump And Akufo-Addo Will Be One Term Presidents

An Islamic cleric and numerologist, Mallam Sham Una Ustaz Jibril prophesied in 2017 that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his US counterpart, Donald Trump will be one-term presidents.

In a Ghanaweb publication in 2017, Mallam Sham Una also said that Akufo-Addo and Donald Trump securing second terms as presidents depended on the fortunes of Nigerian president, Muhamadu Buhari because the three have the same star and also share the same spiritual destiny in the spiritual world.

He also predicted amongst other things, an abrupt end to Buhari’s first term in office through resignation, coup d’etat, or loss of the 2019 election.

His prediction about the Nigerian President did not come to pass though as President Muhamadu Buhari retained his seat in the 2019 Nigerian Elections.

However, his prediction about US President Donald Trump appears to have come to pass, barring any extreme judicial review.

It remains to be seen what will happen with President Akufo-Addo as Ghana heads to the polls on December 7th.

“Cut Off My Head If Mahama Does Not Win 2020 Elections” – Powerful Spiritualist

A powerful spiritualist based in the Bono East Region, Nana Mosi has put his life on the line, declaring an impressive and massive victory for former President John Dramani Mahama in the presidential election.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Rainbow Radio’s Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, the Spiritualist said he should be beheaded just like John the Baptist in the bible and be exhibited for the entire nation to see.

Nana Mosi stated without mincing words that all the prophecies that pointed to a victory for President Akufo-Addo are false and should be ignored.

Nana Mosi also rejected the prophecy by Prophet Owusu Bempah which predicted victory for President Akufo-Addo. According to him, Owusu Bempah’s prophecies are mere predictions.

“Owusu Bempah predicts, he expresses opinions. He does not prophesy, he only predicts. I am a powerful spiritualist whose power can be, compared, to the prophets in the holy books”. He said.

“Listen to me carefully, I am a powerful person, and I don’t peddle lies like the other prophets who fumble with their prophecies. I am stating categorically, that, If my prophecy does not come to pass, behead me,” he added.
