After The Public Inquiry On Ayawaso By-election Turned ‘Beans’, Akufo-Addo Directs Another Public Inquiry Into Ejura Disturbances

In a situation that has become rather symptomatic of the Akufo-Addo administration, the President has directed the Minister for Interior to conduct a public inquiry into the disturbances that occured in Ejura yesterday.

Ghanaians woke up to shock yesterday when angry Youth protesting the senseless brutalization and further demise of an activist, Macho Kaaka ended up being riddled with bullets by security operatives.

Personnel of the security operatives who were sent to ensure order in Ejura fired bullets into the unarmed crowd leading the death of two persons and a further injury of about 10 persons.

The situation has attracted widespread condemnation from shocked Ghanaians who have wondered how and why the excesses of security operatives have become so rampant under this particular administration.

After over 24 hours of the unfortunate incident, a statement has finally been released from the Presidency which claims that the President has ordered a public inquiry into the incident.

This should have been there right thing to be done, unless you know this particular administration too well, sadly.

This will not be the first time a public inquiry has been ordered by President Akufo-Addo.

Readers will recall that a public inquiry was ordered to probe the violence that occured in the infamous Ayawaso West Wuogon By-Election.

Years after the committee, headed by a respected citizen,Emile Short presented their report to the Presidency, little has been done to implement the recommendations proffered by that committee.

Infact, one man who was recommended to be removed by that committee, DSP Azugu was rather elevated to a higher position where he supervised the alleged torture of a Citi FM Journalist, Caleb Kudah.

At least the President has finally broken his silence, we just hope it doesn’t ‘turn beans’ as usual.
