Nothing In This World Will Make Me Return To The NPP – Alan Kyerematen Vows

Alan Kyerematen, a former member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, has definitively stated that he will not rejoin the party. The ex-Minister of Trade and Industry recently announced his decision to leave the party and run as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 elections, following the party’s superdelegate conference.

During a press conference held in Accra on Monday, September 25, Mr. Kyerematen pointed out that he feels his contributions to the party have not been valued and that remaining in the party would only lead to more tension and division.

This situation mirrors the circumstances that led to his resignation from the party in 2008, though he later rejoined it.

During a discussion on the Oyerepa Breakfast Time show on Wednesday, 4th October 2023, the leader of the movement was asked if he would consider rejoining the party, as he had previously done in 2008. However, he made it unequivocally clear that he had no intention of returning to the party.

He expressed his gratitude to NPP members who were open to his return and acknowledged his long-standing involvement as a founding member who had served in both the Kufour and Akufo-Addo governments.

He however explained that his decision to resign was due to certain issues and emphasized that when he mentioned the party not treating him well, he was referring to specific leaders within the party.

Going forward, he stated that he would be directly reaching out to the electorate with his message as a presidential candidate, and he firmly stated that he had departed from the NPP party for good.
