Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Ohene Ntow, declared that the only condition for their return to the NPP fold is the appointment of Alan Kyerematen as the party’s flagbearer. Ntow emphasized that until this adjustment is made, their allegiance will remain with the pursuit of change in Ghana.
Appeal for Leadership Change
Nana Ohene Ntow expressed his conviction that Alan Kyerematen’s leadership is pivotal for steering the country in the right direction. He emphasized Kyerematen’s work ethic and his potential to positively transform the nation. Ntow insisted that for the NPP to regain their support, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia must be replaced as the party’s flagbearer, making way for Alan Kyerematen.
“Our only way back into the NPP is when they remove Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the flagbearer and make Alan Kyerematen the flag bearer. We won’t even agree if they want Alan to be the running mate. As far as this matter is concerned, Alan has greater competence; he has to be the boss, the one with whom the buck stops,” Nana Ohene Ntow declared during an interview on Accra-based UTV.
Leadership Competence Stressed
According to Ntow, merely holding the position of Vice President would not suffice for Alan Kyerematen, as it would limit his ability to make impactful decisions for the country’s development. Ntow urged for a comprehensive recognition of Kyerematen’s competence, asserting that he should be positioned at the forefront, guiding the nation as the ultimate decision-maker.
As the NPP navigates its internal landscape, the assertion from Nana Ohene Ntow adds a layer of complexity to the party’s path forward. The debate over leadership and the potential candidacy of Alan Kyerematen remains a focal point, shaping discussions on party unity and the vision for Ghana’s future under the NPP banner.
