Ken Agyapong Accuses Bawumia Of Destroying The NPP, But What Really Happened To Their Once Beautiful Relationship?

MP for Assin Central and flagbearer aspirant of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Agyapong has accused the Vice President and fellow aspirant, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of destroying the NPP.

During his Showdown Walk event in Kumasi on Saturday, September 30, 2023, Ken claimed that the Vice President’s actions have instilled a significant amount of apprehension within the party, to the extent that individuals are hesitant to voice their opinions.

As the NPP prepares to elect a new flagbearer on November 4, the Assin Central MP has consistently fired shots at the Vice President, accusing him of seeking to cause disunity within the Party, among other allegations.

Mr. Agyapong has also accused the Bawumia team of campaigning on tribal and religious considerations, a claim he has vowed to give them a “showdown” if they do not stop.

In all this, Dr. Bawumia himself has kept a very dignified composure as far as all the drama is concerned. His team has also been careful with their words anytime they have been called upon to react to the maverick politician’s allegations.

But what actually went wrong between the Vice President and the Assin Central MP, considering their once excellent relationship?

In fact, just last year, the Assin Central MP had boldly declared that he would support the Vice President when it came to the flagbearership elections since he had demonstrated enough competence to be deemed worthy of leading the NPP.

So what really happened to get the one time Bawumia supporter now leading the political onslaught against his own preferred choice?

Political relationships can evolve and change over time, so it’s possible that there may have been developments in their relationship, even though the Vice President’s camp have remained cautious over their utterances concerning the firebrand MP.

Whatever it is, it is an undeniable fact that the NPP needs to present a united front before they can have any real chance of winning the 2024 election, and the Assin Central MP, despite his fiery temper and careless utterances is a man greatly admired by the grassroots, and his active participation in the 2024 campaign will be a massive boost to the fortunes of the ruling NPP.
