The Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu has given an interesting explanation as to why they approved the appointment of Ken Ofori Atta as Finance Minister by consensus.
Mr Ofori Atta was approved yesterday after both majority and minority reached a consensus.
Mr Ofori-Atta could not be vetted earlier because of ill health stemming from complications he suffered after he was treated of Covid-19 last year.
His vetting generated intense public interest as a result of the controversial Agyapa deal and others.
However, after being grilled for two days, the Appointments Committee approved his appointment by consensus.
Earlier reports suggested the Minority was planning to reject and abstain from the approval of Mr Ofori-Atta after their party members berated them over the approval of some nominees.
However, this clearly did not materialize.
In seconding the motion for the approval of Mr Ofori Atta, the honorable minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu said the support by his side does not necessarily mean they are satisfied with the finance minister’s work.
According to him, the minister must be made to carry his own cross since he has mismanaged the economy for the past four years.
