Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour, has been appointed by President Akufo-Addo, to act as the Managing Director of the Ghana Post Company Limited, Asaase radio has reported.
The appointment is in an acting capacity as it is subject to regularization in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Companies Act and the company’s regulation.
Obour has been an ardent member of the New Patriotic Party and was seen vigorously campaigning for them during the 2020 polls.
He had claimed prior to the 2020 polls that his allegiance to the NPP runs deep in his family.
In an interview on GBC Radio Central Obour said, “NPP is a party that I have always admired from my boyhood days. It is a family that we all belong to since both my mother and father are all card-bearing members of the great NPP.”
According to him, he had been working behind the scenes as a staunch NPP member for years now and has finally come to the forefront now.
“So all these while, it has been a party that I find very exciting because of their ideals and philosophy. That’s why I’m now a known member of NPP but I have been behind the scenes for some time now,” he stated.
Obour lost his bid to be Member of Parliament on the ticket of the NPP in the Asante Akyem South constituency in the Ashanti Region.
He polled 296 votes while incumbent Member of Parliament, Kwaku Asante Boateng polled 360. The other aspirants, Edmond Oppong Peprah, William Yamoah, and Eric Amofa polled nine, 32, and eight respectively.
