Inside Story: Why Millennium Chef Smith Was Arrested

Published

on

Ebenezer Smith, popularly known as Chef Smith, was arrested on the same day he announced securing confirmation for his attempt at the Guinness World Record’s longest cooking marathon. The arrest took place at the La Palm Hotel in Accra, where Chef Smith was addressing the press about his journey towards the record.

Speaking on Hitz FM, Chef Smith’s manager, Benny, attributed the incident to claims made by musician Nana Boro, who alleged that Chef Smith owed him money. Benny explained, “A few minutes into the programme, some people came to us. One identified himself as Nana Boro, the musician and one or two people. Apparently, their issue was that they were part of the old team that one way or the other supported Chef Smith during the cook-a-thon and that Chef Smith is owing them and until he settles them, he won’t allow the press conference to come on.”

Despite attempts to resolve the matter after the ceremony, security personnel insisted on taking action, leading to Chef Smith’s arrest.

Meanwhile, social media users are speculating about the credibility of Chef Smith’s Guinness World Record claim. However, Benny assured the public that the record is genuine, stating that they received an email confirmation from Guinness World Records.

Chef Smith embarked on his cook-a-thon journey on February 1, 2024, and cooked for 820 hours, concluding his marathon on March 6, 2024, despite initially aiming for 1,200 hours.
