Akufo-Addo Is Wicked; He Promised To Build My Church But Failed – Owusu Bempah

Rev. Owusu Bempah’s remarks come amid a strained relationship with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its leadership. It is recalled that during Akufo-Addo’s presidency, Owusu Bempah, who was once regarded as a spiritual ally of the former President, was arrested and detained for several days. Despite seeking the intervention of the President to secure his release, Akufo-Addo reportedly allowed the legal process to take its course, a decision that appears to have left the clergyman deeply embittered.

Founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, has launched a scathing critique of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, describing him as a “wicked man.” In a sermon delivered to his congregation, the controversial clergyman claimed that no one is as wicked as the former President, though he did not provide specific details to substantiate his assertion.

Since his release on bail, Owusu Bempah has distanced himself from the NPP and has actively worked against the party’s interests. Addressing his congregation, he accused Akufo-Addo of failing to fulfill a promise to build a church for him during his eight-year tenure.

“Akufo-Addo came to promise me that he would build my church for me, but he failed to do so. The former President is a wicked man because he was in power for eight years and did not build my church as promised,” Owusu Bempah stated.

In contrast, the clergyman praised former President John Dramani Mahama, describing him as a “good man with a good heart.” He expressed regret for previously speaking against Mahama, attributing his past criticism to misinformation propagated by NPP Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

“I am always saddened that we did not know this in the past. We spoke against Mahama and condemned him because of what Chairman Wontumi and others told me. Chairman Wontumi is a liar because the things he said about President Mahama made me dislike him, not knowing he was telling lies. I realized he was a liar when he lied about me,” Owusu Bempah declared.

The clergyman’s comments have sparked mixed reactions, with some questioning the motivations behind his sudden shift in allegiance and others viewing his statements as a reflection of personal grievances. Regardless, his public denunciation of Akufo-Addo and endorsement of Mahama adds a new dimension to the ongoing political discourse in Ghana, particularly as the country prepares for future elections.
