I’d Still Support E-levy If NDC Had Introduced It – Deputy Education Minister

In the absence of Parliamentary clearance, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Deputy Minister of Education, has urged Ghanaians to embrace the e-levy.

The e-levy, which was announced by the Finance Minister during the 2022 budget reading, has sparked debate, with Members of Parliament debating whether or not it should be adopted.

While the Minority is opposed, the Majority is fully supportive and has approved the budget, which includes the e-levy.

However, the e-levy may not be implemented unless a majority of members of the Legislative House approve it, thus discussions are still underway.

Rev. Ntim Fordjour, speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” Thursday morning, praised the government for implementing the e-levy, which he feels will aid in the improvement of Ghana’s infrastructure.

He urged Parliamentarians to analyze the initiative without regard for partisan politics, and he asked citizens not to view the e-levy as a burden, but rather as a channel through which the developmental projects they need will be realized.

“Even though I, Ntim Fordjour, am a member of the NPP, I would support this 1.75 percent e-levy if the PNC, NDC, or CPP were in power. We must put partisanship aside and embrace the e-levy in the greatest interests of the country’s development,” he stated.
