In a document to parliament titled, “Presentation of Budget Performance to Special Budget Committee of Parliament”, the EC stated that the Ministry of Finance has capped the budget of the EC to just about GH1 billion and they were therefore requesting for the shortfall of GH 271,099,939 in order to fully undertake their activities.
The Electoral Commission has come under massive criticisms in recent times for its decision to compile a new voters’ register as well as its decision to exclude the old voter ID card as a supporting document for compilation of the new register.
There are currently 3 lawsuits against these decisions with one involving the main opposition NDC to be decided later in June.
