In a decisive move, the Kwahu Traditional Council has officially affirmed the destoolment of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, known in private life as Eugene Asante. The announcement came after an emergency executive meeting held today at the Abetifi Palace. The council, consisting of prominent divisional chiefs from the Benkum, Nifa, Adonten, Kyidom, and Okwawu Gyaase divisions, collectively endorsed the decision.

As part of the meeting’s outcome, the council appointed Abetifihene Nana Akyeamfour Asiedu Agyeman II, who also serves as the Adontenhene of Kwahu, as the acting President of the Kwahu Traditional Area. His appointment comes at a critical time for the traditional council, which is managing the leadership transition.

Speaking in an interview with Kwahu Ambassador, Kwahumanhemaa Nana Adwoa Gyamfua II confirmed the destoolment of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II. She emphasized that the appropriate traditional rites have been performed by the elders and kingmakers, rendering Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II no longer the paramount chief of Kwahu.

Kwahumanhemaa further urged the people of Kwahu and the general public to disregard any statement purportedly emanating from the office of the Kwahumanhene that denies his destoolment, reiterating that the council has already taken the necessary steps to ensure the legitimacy of the process.

This development marks a significant moment in the history of Kwahu, with the traditional leadership taking swift action to resolve the issue. The Kwahu Traditional Council has not yet provided detailed reasons for the destoolment, but the confirmation by multiple divisions and the installation of an acting President signal a clear direction in the leadership of the Kwahu Traditional Area.

The Kwahu people, known for their rich cultural heritage and strong traditional institutions, are expected to follow the council’s guidance as this transition unfolds. More updates are anticipated as the council continues to manage this important period in the traditional governance of the area.
