Corruption Is The Biggest Legacy Of Akufo-Addo’s Government – Edem Agbana

The largest legacy of the Akuffo Addo-led government, according to Edem Agbana, the opposition National Democratic Congress’s National Youth Organizer, is corruption.

The energetic young NDC communicator, who was speaking on Pan Africa TV’s HotNews Show, said this in the wake of the Auditor General’s report, which revealed that the government lost Ghs12.8 billion in 2020 due to statutory institutions’ violations and other irregularities.

“There is only one truth, and that reality is that corruption exists.” “The largest legacy of the Akuffo Addo era is corruption,” he remarked.

One of the most significant obstacles to the country’s development has been corruption. Various steps have been implemented by successive governments to combat the disease, but the country continues to be plagued by corruption.

If given the green light, Nana Addo Danquah may conceivably win power on the promise of fighting corruption. However, since his election in 2017, the country has been rocked by a series of corruption scandals. The PDS Scandal, the Galamsey scam, and 500 missing excavators, the Ameri Novation Scandal, and the Bost Contaminated Fuel Scandal are just a few examples of corruption scandals under Akuffo Addo.

Meanwhile, Edem Agbana claims that Ghanaians should not take all of the provisions in the 2022 budget seriously since the ruling New Patriotic Party does not follow through on its promises. For example, Edem Agbana said that the YouStart policy in the 2022 budget is a repackaged promise to provide jobs to around one million Ghanaians that was made in the previous budget.

“… Taxes are the only thing they (the NPP) impose in their budget.” Are you aware that the first budget read by Osei Kyie Mensah Bonsu indicated that they would come up with a policy that would employ one million young Ghanaians? “Until today, that project has not come to fruition, they have not done it, and that is why they have renamed it YouStart,” he continued.
