You Cancelled Homowo Because Of COVID-19, But Allowed A Demonstration Because Of ‘Akyem Sakawa’ – A Plus Slams ‘Dishonest’ NPP

Outspoken musician and political activist, Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus has described the ruling New Patriotic Party as dishonest following the demonstration against NDC flagbearer, John Mahama by natives of the 3 Akyem States yesterday.

Natives of Akyem Abuakwa, Akyem Bosome, and Akyem Kotoku staged a massive demonstration against former President John Mahama for endorsing comments made by Bolga Central MP, Isaac Adongo in a write-up in which he described some elements in the government as ‘Akyem Sakawa Boys’.

According to the demonstrators, the former President must retract and apologize for the comments which they deem as “ethnocentric”.

However, musician A Plus believes that even the fact that the government permitted a gathering of such large numbers in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, smacks of dishonesty considering the fact that peple of Teshie were prevented from gathering to observe the Homowo festival because of the same COVID-19 restrictions.

In a Facebook post, he wrote, “The government that sent police to prevent Teshie people from celebrating Homowo and will not issue permits for events to reduce the spread of Covid-19 is the same government allowing people to protest in large numbers because of a so called tribal comment. When you say they are dishonest they will cry like there is a hot metal in their D*na”.
