What happened In Accra Yesterday Was An Earthquake- Senior Seismologist

Yesterday, people in Accra, experienced some shaking of the earth which they described as earth tremor perhaps because they had assumed the magnitude could not cause any damages.

However,a Senior Seismologist on an interview on citi fm disclosed that, what happened can be described as a small earthquake due to the magnitude of what he calls the main shake being 4.2 .

Seismologists are people who study earthquakes or planet activities.

The Seismologist explained that, the epicenter was around Dansoman, about some 300m towards the sea.

He further revealed that this magnitude, 4.2 was quite significant and so it was felt around the whole of the inland of Accra and its environs.

These are some precautionary measures to take during an earthquake:

Stay calm! If you’re indoors, stay inside. If you’re outside, stay outside.

If you’re indoors, stand against a wall near the center of the building, stand in a doorway, or crawl under heavy furniture (a desk or table). Stay away from windows and outside doors.

If you’re outdoors, stay in the open away from power lines or anything that might fall. Stay away from buildings (stuff might fall off the building or the building could fall on you).

Don’t use matches, candles, or any flame. Broken gas lines and fire don’t mix.

If you’re in a car, stop the car and stay inside the car until the earthquake stops.

Don’t use elevators (they’ll probably get stuck anyway).
