The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has pledged to end the double track system by December 2021 if he wins back power after the December 7 general polls.
According to the former President, the measure is not the solution in solving the challenge facing the implementation of the government’s flagship Free SHS.
He stated that the intervals between the two tracks makes it difficult for teaching and learning and it has lead to some of the girls getting pregnant.
“The double track system is like traffic light. Today green, tomorrow yellow and it continues like that. Some students go 3 months and another 2 months. That is not right. I’ll end it by December 2021”, the former President said.
He pledged to build more school infrastructure and abolish the system if given the nod.
Mr. Mahama was addressing a community durbar of Chiefs and residents to welcome him to Techire as part of his campaign tour of the Bono Region.
