Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has called on Ghanaians, particularly those at Suame Magazine, to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its presidential candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming December 7, 2024 elections.
Addressing a charged crowd, Agyapong acknowledged the economic difficulties faced by Ghanaian businesses, especially the high duties at the port. He emphasized that the NPP, under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, is committed to addressing these challenges.
“I am aware that duties are now expensive because I am also paying some. However, the Vice President has also whispered to me that he is aware of the duties at the port and will do something great about it to help reduce it for importers,” Agyapong stated.
He urged the electorate to consider the long-term benefits provided by the NPP’s policies, such as the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) initiative introduced by President Nana Akufo-Addo, which has enabled many students to access higher education.
“Times are hard and I know that because I also pay duty but when you are going to vote, think about your child in school and those about to go to school. You should ask yourself the future your children have if NDC is in power and advise yourself,” Agyapong added.
Agyapong made a strong case against the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), arguing that it cannot match the NPP’s developmental agenda. He emphasized the need for continuity in governance to ensure job creation and economic stability.
“The Vice President is our flagbearer for the 2024 December 7 elections. I will plead with you that you work hard and support the Vice President to become President. If he becomes President you will get jobs,” he told the crowd.
