The president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday July 14 chaired the 80th cabinet meeting through a virtual means, the first to happen in the NPP government.
It had become imperative for the president to chair the meeting via zoom from his Presidential Villa at the Jubilee House where he is in a 14-day isolation after coming into contact with a COVID-19 infected person.
In the history of Ghana for the first time, a cabinet meeting was held through virtual means.
Starting the meeting, the president said, “members of the cabinet, this is I think the first of such meeting in the history of our government. So we are all part of the historic process. If I look at the Secretary to the Cabinet, I hope it is going to be a successful venture.”
Prof Gyan-Baffour, Minister in charge of planning said the opening prayer before the main agenda of the meeting began.
Meanwhile the president is in self-isolation for 14 days for coming into contact with a person infected with COVID-19.
Before, a statement signed by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of Information revealed that President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo despite testing negative for the virus has decided to still undergo a 14-day self-isolation.
