Numerous delegates from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Assin Central Constituency have announced their endorsement for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s National Delegates Conference draws nearer.

The delegates, comprising polling station chairpersons and other party executives, justified their support for Dr. Bawumia among the four remaining contenders, asserting that he possesses the qualities needed to secure victory for the NPP in the upcoming presidential election.

They also highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s integral role in the significant accomplishments of the Akufo-Addo-led government, which they believe qualifies him to lead the party and ultimately secure victory in the 2024 General Elections.

Furthermore, they expressed that Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to appointing ten individuals from each constituency holds the promise of benefiting dedicated party members and executives through such appointments.

“We are heading to the polls on November 4, 2023, to select a flagbearer, and in an election, we declare our preferences. Among the four contenders for the flagbearer position, I believe that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the most capable of securing victory for the NPP in the 2024 presidential race. This conviction stems from recognizing the significant achievements of the Akufo-Addo administration, which were made possible thanks to Dr. Bawumia’s support as vice president. This is why my constituents and I have gathered here to wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. We are confident that if he wins the primaries, he will undoubtedly lead the NPP to success in the 2024 presidential election,” explained Raphael Acquah, Chairman of Wurakese DA Polling Station.

Another individual expressed their disappointment with how the party in the Constituency has seemingly neglected them and how they now find renewed hope in Dr. Bawumia’s actions and promises. This is the reason, he emphasized, that Dr. Bawumia is their preferred choice when they vote for the NPP flagbearer at the National Delegates Conference on November 4, 2023.

“Some of us, who are delegates, are backing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia because despite our years of dedicated service to the party in the Constituency, we haven’t received any significant benefits. Therefore, we’ve chosen to support Dr. Bawumia due to his commitment to ensuring that delegates at the Constituency level reap rewards from the party. His promise to appoint ten individuals from each constituency holds great potential for all of us,” stated Mr. John Yaw Yeboah, Secretary for Mempasem Polling Station, in the Twi language.

Out of the 519 delegates in the Assin Central Constituency, the stronghold of Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Bawumia’s main rival in the flagbearer contest, approximately 310 delegates have thrown their support behind Dr. Bawumia.
