Accra-based Angel FM has reported that the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team has returned a Lexus 507 vehicle seized from Michael Omari Wadie, the 3rd National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The vehicle was initially confiscated by the ORAL team on suspicion that it was a state-owned asset. However, after conducting thorough investigations, the team discovered that the car was privately owned, prompting its return to Wadie.

The ORAL team, established by President John Dramani Mahama, was tasked with investigating and recovering assets linked to corrupt practices in public service. The seizure of Wadie’s vehicle was part of the team’s efforts to identify and reclaim state properties allegedly misappropriated by public officials.

Michael Omari Wadie had previously expressed his frustration over the seizure of his car during an interview on Angel FM. He criticized the ORAL team’s actions, insisting that the vehicle was his personal property and not connected to any state resources. The return of the car appears to validate his claims.

In related developments, Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine has indicated plans to meet with the ORAL team to review the information and evidence they have gathered so far. This step is expected to pave the way for legal actions against individuals implicated in corrupt activities.

The incident has sparked discussions about the ORAL team’s operations and the need for accuracy in identifying and recovering looted state assets. While the team’s mandate has been widely supported as a critical step in combating corruption, the seizure and subsequent return of Wadie’s vehicle highlight the importance of due diligence in such investigations.

As the ORAL team continues its work, Ghanaians await further updates on its progress and the potential legal actions that may follow. The return of the Lexus to Michael Omari Wadie serves as a reminder of the complexities involved in anti-corruption efforts and the necessity of ensuring fairness and accuracy in the process.
