Odomase No.1 Queen Warns Fiaprehene Over Attempts To Rejoin Asanteman Council

The Odomase Number One Traditional Council in the Bono Region has expressed strong disapproval over the decision by the chief and people of Fiapre to swear allegiance to the Asantehene and the Asanteman Council.

The Council, led by Odomfour Dr. Kwasi Apraku, the Paramount Chief of Odomase Number One Traditional Area, has cautioned the people of Fiapre to reconsider their decision for the sake of their own future and that of generations to come.

At a news conference in Odomase, the municipal capital, Nana Yaa Adanse Poduo II, the Paramount Queen-mother of Odomase Number One, clarified that the lands of Fiapre are part of Odomase Number One, and thus, the people have no traditional right to pledge allegiance to the Golden Stool.

“We are aware of the decision taken by Fiaprehene Obrempong Professor Kyem Amponsah II to swear allegiance to the Golden Stool of the Asanteman Council. As a chief, he can make that personal decision, but not on behalf of the Fiapre stool,” she stated.

Surrounded by sub-chiefs in mourning regalia and red armbands, Nana Poduo II warned that such a move would provoke the wrath of the Odomase Number One stool and the majority of the chiefs and people of Fiapre and Odomase.

“The chiefs and people of Fiapre know their ancestors sought refuge on the land given by the Odomase Number One Traditional Council. This ancient history cannot be ignored,” the Queen-mother emphasized.

She added that the chief and people of Fiapre would be seen as ungrateful if they failed to recognize and appreciate the support they received from Odomase Number One in the past. “The Fiapre people can swear allegiance to Asanteman only if they leave our land,” Nana Poduo II declared.

Nana Godlove Boateng, the Abusuapanyin (head of family) of the Krontri Royal Division of the Odomase Number One Traditional Area, provided a brief history, noting that the people of Odomase were the first to settle in the municipality around 1606. He advised the Fiapre people to revisit their history and understand their origins before making such decisions.
