Beatrice Annan, the Deputy Spokesperson for John Dramani Mahama’s campaign, has recently alleged that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is relying on underhanded methods, specifically vote-buying and electoral rigging, as part of their strategy for the upcoming December 7 elections. According to Annan, the NPP has placed their hopes in these two tactics rather than engaging in active campaigning, which she sees as a deliberate approach by the ruling party.
Annan, addressing her audience via social media, suggested that the NPP’s reliance on these alleged methods reflects an overconfidence that they can secure victory without direct voter engagement. This, she argued, is part of a larger pattern of behavior seen previously in the Assin North by-election, where NPP representatives were reportedly confident of a win without actively reaching out to voters. In her remarks, Annan highlighted how the NPP’s “submarine” strategy, a term referenced by their National Organizer Nana B, ultimately failed them, as they abandoned the collation center before 9 p.m. that evening. This pattern, she suggested, could be indicative of a similar outcome in the general election.
Reassuring her fellow Ghanaians, Annan expressed confidence in the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) counter-strategy, designed to address and neutralize the alleged tactics of the NPP. She urged supporters to “keep faith with the NDC,” asserting that the NDC’s approach will “shock” the NPP with its effectiveness.
The NDC has been vocal about its commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent election, and Annan’s comments reinforce this message, suggesting that the party is both prepared and resolute in the face of potential challenges. As December 7 approaches, both parties are expected to intensify their efforts to secure voter trust and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
