NDC National Executive Furious Over Withdrawal Of Assin Central P.C; Demands Details Of Alleged Immorality

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership has expressed strong disapproval over the recent suspension of Nurein Shaibu Migyimah, the Parliamentary candidate for Assin Central. Migyimah was suspended by the Central Regional Secretariat following allegations of impregnating the wedded wife of the constituency secretary.

The NDC National Executives have criticized the suspension, stating it was executed without the approval of the Functional Executive Committee. They argue that this action is inappropriate and violates the party’s constitution, specifically articles 40, 41, 46, and 48.

In an official statement signed by Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the NDC, the leadership has summoned the Central Regional Secretariat to appear before the National Leadership on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 2 pm. The Regional Secretary is expected to provide an explanation for the decision to suspend Migyimah without national approval.

The Central Regional Secretariat, in a statement signed by Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, announced Migyimah’s suspension for allegedly engaging in “immoral acts and anti-Party conduct.” The Regional Functional Executive Committee (R-FEC) claimed to have conducted a preliminary investigation and consulted key stakeholders before deciding to withdraw Migyimah as the 2024 Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate and suspend his party membership for six months.

Emmanuel Abdoni, the Assin Central Communications Officer of the NDC, has dismissed the allegations as unfounded. He challenged the party to provide evidence against Migyimah and noted that the constituency executives and the Council of Elders in Assin Central are unaware of the allegations.

The situation has sparked controversy within the party, highlighting tensions between regional and national leadership and raising questions about due process and internal governance within the NDC.
