NDC Has Big Appetite for Rigging Elections – Wontumi

Chairman Wontumi has responded to a statement by the deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) about plans to rig the 2024 general elections.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is of the opinion that when it comes to rigging of elections, the NDC have mastered the craft.

He described the NDC as a party with huge “appetite for stealing” when it comes to national elections.

Peter Boamah Otukonor, has stated that the NDC is battle ready and would not allow the NPP ride over them with thievery and violence in 2024.

He alleged on a Kumasi based radio station that the NPP stole the 2020 elections but Chairman Wontumi rubbished the claim, noting that it is rather the NDC that has that history.

In an interview, Chairman Wontumi stated that history has shown that the NDC have never won any election in Ghana on a free and fair basis.

“When it comes to any electoral reforms that has enhanced Ghana’s democracy, it is the NPP that has championed it. From switching opaque ballot boxes for transparent ones, it is the NPP that brought it. Even when NPP was cheated in the 2012 elections, we didn’t take to the street but head to court to prove our case”, Chairman Wontumi pointed out.
