Flagbearer of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrew, also known as, Osofo Kyiri Abosom has promised to restore ‘galamsey’ activities if he wins the December 2020 polls.

Speaking on GHOne TV he noted that the rate of youth unemployment in the country is rampantly high and the government have halted galamsey, allowing only its party members to engage in it.

He explained that his government, if he wins power, will show and guide the youth the proper way of mining because although galamsey has been banned, the Chinese are still doing it.

“At first, people were in galamsey operations and the banking sector, they were getting money from their jobs. The government (NPP) came and decided to stop this very galamsey, I know it was a good intention to save our river bodies but in a nutshell, the money that they took to even clean up our rivers, none of them has shown any good signs,” he said on GH Today.
