If Tsikata Files A Subpoena To Drag Jean Mensa Into The Box, We Will File Same To Drag Mahama Into The Box – Akufo-Addo’s Legal Team

A spokesperson for the legal team of the 2nd respondent in the ongoing election petition before the Supreme Court, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that his party may pursue the option of dragging the petitioner into the witness box if it becomes necessary.

According to Mr Oppong Nkrumah, if Mr Tsikata succeeds in getting the supreme court to issue a subpoena for the EC Chair, his side will also consider the option of filing for same to be issued for the petitioner, John Dramani Mahama.

The Supreme Court has today ordered the lawyers for the parties in both sides of the 2020 election petition to file their final addresses by Wednesday, 17th February 2021.

The Court, presided by Chief Justice Annin Yeboah, also adjourned the case to Thursday, 18th February 2021 for further directions.

Counsel for the petitioner, Tsatsu Tsikata, however, informed the court that he will be filing for a review of the court’s judgement overruling his objection at the 1st and 2nd respondent’s decision to close their case without calling any witnesses.

Mr Tsikata also notified the court that he will be filing a motion for the court to issue a subpoena on the chairperson of the first respondent, Madam Jean Mensah to force her into the witness box.

Addressing the media after proceedings today, Mr Oppong Nkrumah said that his side has various options to pursue in case the Supreme Court issues a subpoena to force the EC Chair into the witness box.

This, according to him, includes the option of asking the court to drag Mr Mahama into the witness box himself to answer questions.
